The Cretan born and raised Zeus calls you to run on his steps!
On June 3, 2018, the 9th Psiloritis International Race will take place, starting from Nida Plateau, in Anogia of Crete, to Amari. This international event includes four different parts. The athletes of 35km are challenged to reach the peak of Psiloritis mountain (2,456) on a path that revives the sacred course of antiquity where pilgrims of the Sacred city of Minoan Knossos ascended to the summits of Psiloritis to honor their supreme God, the Cretan Zeus.
This year, there are also some additional events, on Saturday 2 June 2018, in Rethymno, and in the evening, instructions for the race will be announced. The types of races are the following:
– the main trail race of 35 km,
– the Kouroutes route 8,5 km,
– the nordic walking 8,5 km,
– and the kids race 2 km.
Everyone who is interested in register for International Psiloritis Race, may apply from 09 March to 10 April 2018 on the online form: https://www.psiloritisrace.com/el/application-form.php and for information, they may visit psiloritisrace.com. The organizing committee of the international sporting event “9th International Psiloritis Race” in a statement highlights the following: “The Cretan and hospitable Zeus invites you this year to run in his footsteps!”
The participants will have the opportunity to experience the Psiloritis Race through the 9th Psiloritis Race and, depending on their interests, the sea and the mountain from the north to the south coast of Crete in an area ranging from picturesque Rethymnon to the traditional Amari, the mountainous Anogia and the Minoan Festos.
History, culture, nature and sport are the basic ingredients generously offered through the heart of primordial Cretan hospitality in its most authentic form.
An international sporting event that has been well established and by itself deservedly carries the public consciousness that loves and carries an optimistic and healthy attitude towards life.
They also demonstrate this by participating and accepting them in the organization in every possible way. With the voluntary offer, with sponsorship, with the interest in getting informed from psiloritisrace.com and social media and with the four sports activities that are followed each year by more and more people:
This experience is unique for a variety of reasons. We are in the country that gave birth to the competition, the noble emulation, the universal sports ideals and the first civilization in Europe. Only a place like this gives you the privilege of feeling that you are part of these immaterial superior goods in an environment full of endemic flora and fauna that the natural beauty is filled with strength and renewal as the rugged mountainous environment vibrating with liveliness and energy “.
